The violence in Juarez continues as the drug cartels continue their slaughter.
"La gente anda preguntando en que trabaja el muchacho,
nomas porque traigo pesos y una trocona del año.
Ando muy bien arreglado y uso sombrero de lana,
con una morra a mi lado y en mi cintura una escuadra." Los Huracanes del Norte
Last year I went to visit Juárez to meet Silvia after she arrived on her way home. It was during the time that there was some text messages circulating about a mass killing in Juarez and not many people were on the streets. People were afraid to be on the streets. I stayed by myself in a motel Las Palmas on Avenida Ejercito Nacional near Francisco Villarreal Street. I was inside this small dark room and I was having this uneasy feeling that was making it difficult to sleep. I felt so vulnerable without a weapon.
Coincidentally, just recently five men were executed when gunmen stormed into this same motel room. Twenty rounds were fired, and the slain men were found on the floor in a room of Las Palmas motel.
